Boston – According to The Washington Post, Red Sox outfielder JD Drew is trying to play through a herniated disk in his back, avoiding the disabled list. Drew has missed the last few games after experiencing lower back tightness on August 17th. Though Drew says his back is “guarding against spasms” the situation does seem pretty bad. Drew on his back: “It’s tough, because when I sit down and get relaxed, I try to stand up and I’m stiff and it’s hard to get moving.” That sound pretty bad, hopefully he can get back.

Milwaukee – Milwaukee Brewers third basemen Ryan Braun returned to the lineup Friday despite a “tight” back. Braun is not expected to need a trip to the disabled list. Assuming Braun misses a few at bats, the way he has hit this season, it could significantly impact close fantasy races. We will be keeping a close eye on this situation.
