Teams pay little atention to pitchers workloads, could pay

CC Sabathia, Brewers - The Breewers are not hiding it, or at least not well. CC Sabathia is a hired gun. Hes going to pitch as much as they want him too and then hes going to sign somewhere else in the off season. Since joining the Breewers CC has 4 complete games and 3 starts in which he surpassed 130 pitches. In his last start he came out in the 9th inning to finish off a 9-2 game in witch he threw 130. The Brewers might think it doesnt matter how much they pitch him because they wont have him long term, but these pitch counts could hurt him THIS year.
Mike Pelfrey, Mets - Pelfrey is around his innings from 2007 with a month left in the season. Assuming he pitches the rest of the month he should reach his limit and then the Mets would be in a hard position regarding him pitching and the playoffs. I personally would just keep pitching him, hope I made the playoffs, and accept them for the crapshoot they are. The Mets may feel differently.
Cole Hamels, Phillies - Hamels is in the same boat as Pelfrey. Hes around 180 IP, where he was last season. The difirence is Hamels has had both a history of arm problems, and hes the ace of the team. I could see him pitching the Phillies into the playoffs, and putting them in a really dificult position. Again with Hamels I would keep pitching him and hope he can stay close enough to that limit.

Just a heads up: over at Razz Ball they have a list of pitchers that are pitching way to many innings. You should go check it out.
