Pending physical, Johnson heading to Yankees

Looks like Nick Johnson will be head to New York to be their everyday DH in 2010. From Ken Davidoff:

#Yankees and Nick Johnson are wrapping up a one-year deal for about $5.5 million. Pending a physical.

Assuming the Yankees do end up landing Johnson, Johnson’s fantasy value has to go up quite a bit. He’d be landing in the perfect situation. He hit .291 last year, although that was probably a bit inflated by his BABIP and may go down. Still, if he ends up hitting near the top of the order (I could see him hitting second) or really anywhere in that Yankees lineup, a guy with a near .430 OBP is going to score some runs in New York.

His power really disappeared in 2009, but his 2008 .211 ISO, and left-handedness make him a very intriguing first base option moving into Yankee Stadium, especially in AL only leagues. Injuries are always a big concern, but DHing should help him stay healthy. Could be a good value pick.

The Yankees get a great #2 hitter with a .400-.430 OBP, .370ish wOBA, and possible hidden power for $5.5 million dollars, so nice pickup on their part.
